2 Tonne Adjustable Forklift Swing Jib Attachment

The Bremco BMP002 Adjustable Swing Jib is a 2 tonne forklift jib attachment that converts your forklift into a mobile crane for lifting non-palletised loads. It slips onto your tynes and lifts 2,000 kg at 879 mm from the carriage face, extending out to 2,791 mm (2.8 m) at 600 kg. Five locating-pin positions tilt the boom to gain up to 1,325 mm of extra hook height — useful for lifting in confined spaces or over obstacles.

Australian made in Bremco’s own workshop, built to AS2359 and supplied with a compliance plate. Backed by a 12-month structural warranty.

Description

BMP002 load chart: lifting capacity at every reach

Capacity reduces as the hook moves further from the forklift mast. The BMP002 maintains its full 2,000 kg rating to 1,309 mm, then reduces across five further positions to 600 kg at maximum reach.

Hook position (from carriage face) Working load limit
879 mm 2,000 kg
1,309 mm 2,000 kg
1,751 mm 1,350 kg
2,011 mm 1,100 kg
2,271 mm 900 kg
2,531 mm 700 kg
2,791 mm 600 kg

The working load limit is stamped on the compliance plate fitted to every unit. Operators should work to the load chart above and to the forklift’s own capacity rating, whichever is lower.

Five angle positions for additional lift height

The locating pin sets the boom at one of five angles. Raising the boom reduces the horizontal distance between the load and the mast, which increases hook height and brings the load centre back towards the forklift.

Locating pin position Additional hook height
Horizontal (base) 0 mm
Position 1 300 mm
Position 2 661 mm
Position 3 1,002 mm
Position 4 1,325 mm

The additional 1,325 mm available at the highest setting compensates for the height lost to the hook, shackle and sling length when lifting with a jib attachment.

Applications for a forklift swing jib

The BMP002 suits operations that regularly handle oversized, unbalanced or non-palletised loads. Common applications include:

  • Steel and fabrication — lifting beams, sections and pipe bundles onto benches, racks and trucks
  • Plant maintenance — removing and refitting motors, pumps, gearboxes and dies
  • Construction and civil — placing precast items, pits, bollards and drainage components
  • Transport and logistics — unloading awkward or crated freight from trailers and containers
  • Agriculture — handling bulk bags, tanks, augers and implements
  • General workshop — any task requiring a hook lifting point and extended reach

Because the load is suspended from a hook rather than supported on tynes, operators can position items accurately and reduce the manual handling otherwise required to guide a load into place.

Checking compatibility with your forklift

Tyne dimensions. The BMP002 tyne pockets measure 190 mm wide by 74 mm high. Measure the width and thickness of your tynes and confirm they fall within these dimensions.

Capacity at the extended load centre. A forklift’s nameplate capacity is rated at a standard load centre, generally 500 mm or 600 mm. A jib places the load well beyond that point, which reduces the effective capacity of the machine.

Net lifting capacity should be 0.8 times your forklift’s rated capacity to allow for a swinging load. A 3 tonne forklift is therefore treated as a 2.4 tonne machine when a jib is fitted. The jib’s 142 kg tare weight and the actual hook position in use must also be accounted for against the forklift’s own load chart.

Bremco recommends that users check the forklift is fit for use prior to fitting the attachment and confirm with the forklift manufacturer that the BMP002 can be used on that machine. Contact the Bremco team with your forklift make, model and capacity for assistance selecting the right unit.

Australian made and fully certified

The BMP002 is designed and manufactured in Bremco’s Australian workshop. The fabrication team has more than 30 years of experience producing materials handling equipment, working alongside local engineering partners to ensure products meet or exceed relevant Australian Standards.

Every unit is supplied as a fully certified lifting device with a compliance plate and unique serial number for your records, and is covered by a full 12-month structural warranty on all products manufactured in our workshop.

Bremco can also custom design and manufacture a forklift swing jib to your specific capacity, reach and tyne pocket requirements. Contact the Bremco team today for more information and a fast quote.

The BMP002 has a working load limit of 2,000 kg at 879 mm and 1,309 mm from the forklift carriage face. Capacity reduces as the jib extends: 1,350 kg at 1,751 mm, 1,100 kg at 2,011 mm, 900 kg at 2,271 mm, 700 kg at 2,531 mm and 600 kg at the maximum 2,791 mm reach.

The Bremco BMP002 reaches up to 2,791 mm (approximately 2.8 metres) from the forklift mast at its longest setting, rated to 600 kg at that reach.

Yes. Net lifting capacity should be 0.8 times your forklift’s rated capacity to allow for a swinging load. A 3 tonne forklift should therefore be treated as a 2.4 tonne machine when a jib is fitted, before also accounting for the jib’s own 142 kg tare weight and the extended load centre.

Check your forklift’s own load chart at the jib’s load centre, not its nameplate capacity. Because the BMP002’s horizontal centre of gravity sits at 719 mm and the hook can extend to 2,791 mm, the effective load centre is well beyond the standard 500 or 600 mm rating point. Apply the 0.8× derating rule and confirm with your forklift manufacturer.

A fixed jib has a set length and is best for repetitive lifts where no adjustment is needed. An extension jib telescopes to different lengths for longer loads. An adjustable swing jib does both — it extends and tilts through multiple angles, so it can gain lift height in confined spaces. The BMP002 is an adjustable swing jib with seven hook positions and five angle settings.

The BMP002 has tyne pockets measuring 190 mm wide × 74 mm high. It suits standard forklift tynes within those dimensions. Measure your tyne width and thickness before ordering, or send the measurements to Bremco and the team will confirm fit.
