Specifications
Bremco combination beams are made to order in a range of rated capacities. Each beam adjusts between a closed and an extended span, and works in two modes — as a two-point spreader beam (higher capacity) or as a single-point lifting beam (lower capacity, less headroom). Ratings for each standard model:

Finish: painted enamel. All models are fully welded and individually proof-load tested to AS4991, and supplied with a certificate of conformance and compliance plate.
How a combination beam works
Most lifting jobs need either a spreader beam or a lifting beam — a combination beam does both, which removes the need to own and rig two separate attachments.
As a spreader beam, the load is carried in compression along the bar, keeping the sling legs vertical. This spreads the load across two lifting points and reduces the inward crushing force on wide or delicate loads, allowing a higher rated capacity.
As a single-point lifting beam, the load hangs from one central point and is carried as a bending moment through the beam. This needs far less headroom, which suits lifts in confined spaces such as workshops and under gantry cranes — at a reduced rated load.
Switching between the two modes lets one attachment cover a wide range of load types, weights and centres of gravity.
When to use a combination beam
Combination beams are the most cost-effective choice when your loads vary and buying separate spreader and lifting beams isn’t practical. Typical applications include:
- Mobile crane hire, where every lift is different
- Steel fabrication and manufacturing shops handling mixed loads
- Sites that need both wide-load spreading and low-headroom single-point lifts
- Operations wanting one certified, tagged attachment instead of several
